Contract!

Frances and I are entering into a no yarn buying contract as, between us, we've probably got enough to stock a small shop! I am only allowed to buy ONE skein from the Unicorn Club per month until Iknit weekend in september (a few days before my birthday) and Frances is going to try not to spend any money on yarn for a year!

If one of us gets tempted, we've got to phone the other quickly before our fingers start to itch!

Busy week!

On wednesday evening, Frances and I went to see Amber in the school 'Trash 2009' fashion show. It was brilliant and we really enjoyed ourselves. Amber is already thinking about next year's outfit! The kids have to design an outfit using only secondhand clothes and recyclables and all the designs were stunning/ On 1st April we are going to see Ryan in a school fashion show for the prom night where all the outfits are supplied by Moss Bros. It's a showcase to give parents and students an idea of what can be hired for the night (8th May).

On thursday, Frances and I went to our first knitting group at Kngaroo in South Chailey and had a lovely time - we ended up staying all day! Bought some yarn (I've smacked my own writsts) but I needed some to go with some other yarn to make a modular jacket.

Spice Caravan Robe

This is going really well! I have finished the back, one front and have 48 rows left of the second front. I then need to block the pieces, put them togther and do the bands, side bits and sleeves - all garter stitch!

I will then do some more of my Sunset kimono before I start a Bounced Check (Jamiesons Simply Knit) in some stashed yarn - I have had to order some more yarn to go with it though!

However, I am itching to have a go with the Rico Pompom yarn I bought in Tunbridge Wells on monday!

Tomorrow ...

... is Uncle Ed's funeral and I don't know what to wear, what bag to use and whether to take my wHite stick!

I do need to practice a bit with the stick - I was using it in Tunbridge Wells yesterday and David was amazed at how people react to it. It's a bit like the parting of the waves!

Eyes....

I had my four monthly check up yesterday and, although I know I am not seeing so well, everything was fine. The nurse who checked my vision did say that an eye test is not an actual true indicator of how well someone is seeing day to day so..

Dr. Tesha (consultant) is going to write back to my GP and arrange for them to refer me to QVH, a more local hospital, for the Low Vision Clinic so that I can get there myself and not have a major problem with finiding someone (David or, possibly dad) to take me, so I shall wait with baited breath!

R.I.P. Uncle Ed.

My favourite uncle and godfather passed away last night after having a stroke last friday.

I am so glad I managed to talk to him last wednesday to tell him that I loved him.

We will miss you Uncle Ed.

Flamenco Bag

I was very disappointed with the way this turned out - it's tiny! I have had to order some different handles as the ones I had were simply not suitable. Oh well at least the yarn was from my stash.

Stashbusting, by the way, seems to be going pretty well. Since December, I have used up

Loads of felting yarn (red market squares)
Potluck Chunky (My Constant Companion and above mentioned disaster)
Lorna's Laces Lion & Lamb (clapotis)
Twilley's Freedom Spirit ('Maggie' bag)
Hipknits Kid Aran (Ruched Bag)
Krafty Koala Sock yarn (mini clapotis)

BUT

I have also bought quite a bit too!

Skein Queen Plushness
Silkwood Sock yarn x 2 shades
Cascade 220 to make lattice bag
Debbie Bliss SoHo
Fyberspates Aran x 2 shades
Alpaca Select
Malabrigo Worsted
Vanna's Choice x 2 shades
Hip Knits Aran (to make gift)
Mirasol Hacho
Wendy Happy (to make gift)

I think that's the lot, well at least I hope it is!

Finally!

I finally, after a couple of false starts, got my Spice Caravan Robe underway last night but didn't get a lot done!

I am not sure what I am going to do with my Noro Silk Garden either. I was going to make a Chevron Ruana but I think I'll get flummoxed with the long stitch and shapings. It's almost as if I am losing some confidence with my knitting and I like to stay in my comfort zone.

Not feeling very happy

I think the anniversary of losing mum is taking it's toll on me at the moment. I am not coping with anything at all well - Amber is driving me mad and Ryan and I had a blazing row over bedtime and his guitar last night, I cried myself to sleep.
